Affordable Pet Funeral Urns for a Respectful Farewell

Affordable Pet Funeral Urns for a Respectful Farewell

Your pet held a unique and irreplaceable place in your life. More than just an animal, they were your best friend, your confidant, your loyal companion through every season. Pets offer unconditional love, unwavering support, and a sense of daily comfort that is hard to put into words.

When a dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig or ferret passes away, the loss is profound — for adults and children alike. Because their lives are so often shorter than ours, their absence arrives too soon and leaves a void that reshapes everyday life. To honour their memory with the dignity they deserve, many pet owners today choose cremation followed by a biodegradable memorial urn — a meaningful, lasting tribute to a faithful companion.

A lasting tribute to your faithful companion

Rather than facing an abrupt ending, why not choose a return to nature? With our biodegradable tree urns for dogs, cats and all other pets, you can create a peaceful sanctuary right in your own garden. The idea is simple and deeply moving: place your companion’s ashes in the lower compartment of the urn, add a young tree or plant of your choice in the upper compartment, and bury it in the earth. As the tree grows, your pet lives on — a living memorial you can visit every day.

Tree Urn urns are made from cork powder, cork granules and a biodegradable binder. Once buried, they decompose naturally over 6 to 8 years, leaving no harmful residue in the soil. The two compartments are physically separated by the Regulator — an internal divider that keeps the ashes and the plant roots apart at the time of burial, allowing a gradual, natural enrichment of the soil as the urn breaks down over time.

Tree Urn does not sell seeds or plants — seeds are biologically incompatible with cremation ashes. For the best results, we recommend purchasing your tree or plant from a local nursery and placing it directly in the upper compartment before burial.

Personalise the urn: a final message of love

Combining elegant design with a modern approach to pet memorial, our funeral urns stand apart through the quality of their finish and the warmth of their natural cork texture. Because every animal is unique, we offer the possibility to personalise your urn with a custom printed message: engrave their name, their dates, or a tender phrase that captures who they were — a final act of love, made permanent.

Personalisation can also help children navigate the grief of losing a pet. Seeing their companion’s name on the urn, taking part in planting a tree in their honour — these concrete gestures give meaning to loss and gently support the mourning process. A precious memory, forever carried in the living world.

Find the right urn for your companion and personalise it with their name or a message.

How much ash remains after cremation?

The volume of ashes depends primarily on the animal’s bone structure — cremation ash is composed mainly of the minerals found in bones. Fat and soft tissue burn away almost entirely during the process, so an overweight animal does not necessarily produce more ash than one of normal weight. Age, health and sex also play a role: females typically have slightly lower bone density, which can result in differences of up to around 20%.

If you are unsure which size to choose, your pet crematorium will be able to tell you the exact volume of ashes collected — or use our free online calculator for a quick estimate.

Where should your companion rest?

We are here to support you with care through every step of this process. Once the cremation is complete and you have chosen your urn, several options are available depending on your wishes and local regulations.

Burial in your private garden is often the most intimate choice, allowing you to keep your companion close — watching over a tree or flowering plant that grows in their memory through the seasons. Pet cemeteries offer a dedicated, tranquil space for those without a garden or who prefer a separate place of remembrance. In some countries, scattering ashes in nature is also permitted under specific conditions.

Whichever path you choose, our shop is here to help you find the right urn and personalise it with the message your companion deserves.

Frequently asked questions

Which urn size should I choose for my pet?

Our urns come in three sizes: Size S (up to 10 kg), Size M (up to 45 kg) and Size L (up to 90 kg). If you are unsure, your pet crematorium can tell you the exact volume of ashes collected, or you can use our free online calculator.

Is the Tree Urn truly biodegradable?

Yes. Made from 90% of cork granules and 10% of binder, the urn decomposes naturally in the soil within 6 to 8 years, leaving no harmful residue behind.

Can I bury a pet funeral urn in my private garden?

Yes — in the vast majority of countries, burying a pet urn in a private garden is permitted. Regulations vary by country and local municipality, so we recommend consulting our dedicated legal guide for the rules that apply in your area.

Can I personalise the urn with my pet’s name?

Yes. You can have your pet’s name, their dates or a personal message printed on the urn directly when placing your order in our online shop.

Does the urn include seeds to grow a tree?

No — seeds are biologically incompatible with cremation ashes. The upper compartment of the urn, separated from the ashes by the Regulator, is designed to hold a young tree or plant that you source from a local nursery.
